Welcome To The Home Of Exeter Road Junction

This website will showcase the layout that is 'Exeter Road Junction'. The layout was stuck in the back of my mind for quite a few years. For three or four years leading up to the layout being started I owned a very large 00 gauge model railway, which was approximately 25' by 4'. It was a lovely layout and was plenty of fun to operate with long trains running up and down at speed, but it was just unmanageable and keeping it all clean and serviceable was a nightmare! I then decided to get rid of that layout and I sold of the entire old Hornby track and started from scratch. I brought all new Peco 00 gauge code 100 points and track. The layout slowly developed and I felt on a smaller board I could add lots more detail and focus more on making a smaller layout, which was more manageable and consequently more enjoyable. Exeter Road Junction features everything that I have ever wanted in a layout; a turntable, a large platform, an engine shed, a large tunnel, a fiddle yard and lots of sidings! The layout is now complete, but I feel there are still a few finishing touches I would like to add to perfect it. The layout is seen by many people as unrealistic due to a merchant navy running next to a Virgin Voyager, but it is what I like. It is my railway and I have the opinion people can run what they like on their layout, as it is there's. If they like prototypical or if they like freelance, then it is up to them. I really enjoy my layout and I hope you enjoy looking round my site and you may pick up a few hints and tips along the way. Thanks for visiting the site of Exeter Road Junction.
